I LOVE going on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch. Last time I got to hold a 60,000-year-old stone axe brought in by Phil from Time Team. This time I got to stroke a very soft-furred, very purry Serotonin bat! I was actually on the programme to talk about time travel with Simon Rimmer & Amanda Byram. But it was so fantastic to meet the slightly eccentric but absolutely lovely and kind bat lady, Jenny Clark. “So how did you learn how to look after bats?” I asked. “I used to train horses. I simply took the same techniques and applied them… to bats.” Jenny runs a bat rescue hospital in East Grinstead. If you want to find out more about bats, look up the Bat Conservation Trust.
