Sunday Times Science Book of the Year!

I was sitting on a London-bound train at Manchester Piccadilly, sipping a coffee and idly flicking through the “Culture section of The Sunday Times, relieved that the recording of Christmas University Challenge in Salford was over – and it wasn’t as terrifying as I’d expected – when I turned a page and there it was: my book The Ascent of Gravity was named The Sunday Times Science Book of the Year! I nearly tipped my coffee over my wife in my eagerness to point it out to her! It was the perfect end to a memorable day when I’d had the privilege of representing Queen Mary University alongside Iron Maiden front man, Bruce Dickinson, TV presenter Adrian Chiles and TV cook Ching-He Huang.
