Black holes at Brighthink, Brighton
October 23, 2024
Great to be in Brighton! Unfortunately, Chris Lintott from the BBC’s Sky At Night had to drop out of the “In Conversation” event at the last minute. I spent 30 minutes telling the audience hopefully interesting things about black holes and my book, A CRACK IN EVERYTHING. Then brummie Kevin Howells, the genius behind Brighthink, stepped in to ask the questions. It must have worked because there were tons of qustions also from the audience, which had come out on a very wet night, for which I was very grateful!

There’s nothing a writer likes better than banging on about their book. Here I am before my event at The Nightingale Room at Brighton’s Grand Central Pub

I only realised, an hour before being interviewed in Brighton, East Sussex, that black holes had actually been discovered in East Sussex! (Paul Murdin and Louise Webster at the Royal Greenwich Observatory discovered the black hole in Cygnus X-1 in 1971)

Audience member after picks up a copy of my Ladybird BIG BANG book and thinks: “Shall I? Shan’t I?” GO ON!

Jabba. The perfect name a beach hut?! (Apart from Pizza, of course!)
