Afterglow of Creation

A whopping 99.9 per cent of all the particles of light, or “photons”, in the Universe are tied up in the “afterglow” of the big bang fireball and only 0.1 per cent in the light of stars and galaxies. It’s 50 years since the discovery of the “cosmic background radiation”. The story of the discovery is a catalogue of errors, missed opportunities and accidents.
